Stainless Steel Classification and Advantages

Stainless steel is divided into Martensite stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, austenitic stainless steel,Duplex stainless steel.

For Martensite stainless steel:known as 420 stainless steel, with wear resistance, corrosion resistance, hardness is higher, the price is lower, suitable for ordinary working environment.

For Ferritin type stainless steel :known as 430 stainless steel, its corrosion resistance, toughness and weldability with the increase of chromium content and improve, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance are better. However, the mechanical and technological properties are poor, and it is mostly used for acid-resistant structures with little force and for oxidation resistant steel.

For Austenitic stainless steel, commonly known as 304 stainless steel, has a stable austenitic structure. Austenitic stainless steel generally belongs to corrosion resistant steel, is the most widely used in a class of steel, it has good mechanical properties, easy to machining, stamping and welding.

Duplex stainless steel refers to ferrite both austenitic and ferritic stainless steel characteristics, compared with ferrite, higher plasticity, toughness, no brittleness at room temperature, intergranular corrosion resistance and welding performance are significantly improved, with superplastic characteristics.

Precipitate hardened stainless steel:Aging hardened martensitic stainless steel has good corrosion resistance and simple heat treatment.

The advantages of stainless steel:

1.Resistance to heat, high temperature, low temperature and even ultra-low temperature.
2.According to different types of stainless steel, mechanical properties are not the same, martensitic stainless steel has high strength, hardness; Austenitic stainless steel plastic is good, the strength is not too high but the best corrosion resistance; Ferritic stainless steel has moderate mechanical properties, not too high strength but oxidation resistance.
3.Austenitic stainless steel process performance is good, good plasticity, can be processed into a variety of plate tube profiles, suitable for pressure processing, martensitic stainless steel due to high hardness process performance is poor.
